As a guild association it keeps an eye on professional status of theatre criticism and scrutinizes theatrological reflection in Slovenia. On the other hand, the association regularily participates in current international debates and projects. The association also bestows an award for the best performance of the theatre season. |

Membership and programme
Members of the association are mostly critics, theatre researchers as well as individuals with professional background of a dramaturg. At their meetings they try to respond to situation and changes in the field of Slovene culture and cultural policy actively, either via open letters or direct proposals on the recurrent deficiencies. As the work of critics, editors and practical dramaturgs is often underpayed, a preferential tariff of fees for certain work was determined to serve as an orientation for employees as well as employers. One of the association's initiatives is the re-qualification of the National Theatre Museum of Slovenia into the non-existant National Theatre Institute.
Public events
The Association of Theatre Critics and Theatrologists of Slovenia has organised some round tables and symposia to catalize reflection in the fields which have not been dealt with in Slovenia before and to contribute to the recognition of theoretical and critical theatre discourse. The international symposium Art, Culture, City (2009) as well as international conference Intercriticism (2010) presented accompanying programme of the Maribor Theatre Festival (contributions were published in Dialogi Journal).
Since 2011 the association prepares regular open forums; the first one dealt with the issue of small stages, the next one raised the theme of artistic leadership in Slovene theatres.
