The Directors Guild of Slovenia was founded as a non-profit, non-governmental organisation in 2005, on the 100th anniversary of Slovene film. Prior to its establishment, Slovene film directors made up a section of the [[Association of Slovene Film Workers]]. The Association unites Slovene professional film directors of all generations and aims at better condition for activities, encouraging directors to produce individual, free and creative work for presentation to both local and international audiences.
