The Faculty of Computer and Information Science was founded in 1996 when the previous Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science was split into two new faculties. The foundations of computer science at the University of Ljubljana date back to 1973 when the Computer Studies programme was established. Since 1982 the Computer Studies was organised as an independent study programme, also a postgraduate study was founded.
In 2003 intermedia artists from the Faculty of Computer and Information Science initiated ArtNetLab, most of whose projects have since been developed in collaboration with the Faculty's Computer Vision Laboratory and the Academy of Fine Arts and Design.
The Faculty encourages the student exchange between universities in Slovenia, namely among faculties at the University of Ljubljana, University of Primorska, and University of Maribor. Within the framework of ERASMUS/SOCRATES student exchange the agreements were signed with numerous European universities.
Culture.si offers information on Slovene cultural producers, venues, festivals and support services, all in one place. It encourages international cultural exchange in the fields of arts, culture and heritage. The portal and its content is owned and funded by the Ministry of Culture, funded by the European Union Recovery and Resilience Plan and developed by Ljudmila Art and Science Laboratory.
