Organised by [[Mini Theatre]], the [[Mini Summer - International Festival for Children]] was launched in [[established::1999]] with the aim of animating the streets, squares, and atriums of Ljubljana and the [[Ljubljana Castle]] with high-quality puppetry performances and workshops for children. Each year the festival features an international selection of intriguing performances for children of Slovene and international groups, and occasionally also puppet performances for adults, featuring different puppet techniques, concepts, and languages.

The biggest and most resounding festival for children in Slovenia, the festival has recently featured puppet theatres from Italy, Brasilia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, France, Belarus, Belgium, Hungary, the United Kingdom, Chile, Bulgaria, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Israel, Germany and Slovenia, with over 20 groups being invited to each festival. Performances are staged either in the open air or at the Mini Theatre hall at the Ljubljana Castle. Various creative workshops for children (visual arts, multimedia, puppetry, etc.) are conducted and exhibitions of puppets presented. The festival traditionally holds a workshop in chivalry skills, namely, ''Pageants School for Young Pages and Dames''. The 2009 workshops were organised in the frame of the project ''Carol Singing and Related Customs'' [Koledovanje in koledniški običaji], supported by EEA and Norway Grants. The festival has gained high number of spectators of all ages and international reputation.

Organised by Mini Theatre since 1999, the Mini Summer - International Festival for Children is one of the oldest festivals aimed at younger audiences in Slovenia.
