Founded by Samo M. Strelec, Tamara Matevc, and Gregor Matevc in 2007 and run by Novi ZATO. Institute since April 2008, the web portal is intended to provide relevant information about events (performances, educational, and research activities, etc.) in the performing arts area to the interested public as well as to archiving and preservation of Slovene theatre heritage.
The portal takes its name from the Slovenian for "you saw" or "did you see", as in "did you see that play?" which can also be read as the abbreviation for Slovenia (SI) combined with an abbreviation (of sorts) for the Slovenian word for "theatre", gledališče.
The portal is divided into three sections:
Since January 2010, the portal is supported by the Ministry of Culture.
Culture.si offers information on Slovene cultural producers, venues, festivals and support services, all in one place. It encourages international cultural exchange in the fields of arts, culture and heritage. The portal and its content is owned and funded by the Ministry of Culture, funded by the European Union Recovery and Resilience Plan and developed by Ljudmila Art and Science Laboratory.
