Vicious Cat Awards

The Vicious Cat Awards are presented annually at the Grossmann Fantastic Film and Wine Festival in Ljutomer. The Vicious Cat [Hudi maček] Award is bestowed for best feature film and for the wine champion of the festival, while the Honorary Vicious Cat Award [Častni hudi maček] honours someone's lifetime achievements (since 2007 the award winners have been Slobodan Šijan, Roger Corman, Ruggero Deodato, Sam Firstenberg, Christina Lindberg and others).

In 2008 the Slak's Vicious Cat [Slakov hudi maček] Award for the best short film was introduced and named after the Slovene film director Franci Slak (1953–2007) who had been actively involved at the festival since its inception. The Noisy Cat [Hrupni maček] Award is bestowed for the best music documentary.

The Animateka International Animated Film Festival is a specialised competitive festival which focuses on Central and East European animated film production. It takes place annually since 2004 at the Kinodvor Cinema and at the Slovenian Cinematheque in Ljubljana during the second week of December. Animateka is organised by the 2 Reels - Association for Reanimation of Storytelling.
