AFRONT Institute is an independent Slovenian organization dedicated to promoting architecture, spatial culture, and design through public programmes, research, and cultural-educational projects. It is a key platform for connecting architectural practice, critical discourse, research and innovations to wider publics. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of high-quality built environments, encourage public engagement, and create an open, critical, and accessible space for discourse on architecture and society.

Projects

AFRONT is the producer of Open House Slovenia (OHS), the largest architectural festival in the country. Each year, OHS opens more than one hundred exemplary buildings and urban projects across Slovenia, attracting thousands of visitors and fostering dialogue between architects, clients, and the public. The festival has become a central reference point for architectural culture in the region.

Beyond the festival, AFRONT runs the project Invisible Houses, an online platform presenting important Slovenian architectural achievements that have been demolished or never built, are not accessible to the public, or are simply not sufficiently known or understood.

AFRONT is also the producer of Odprto (eng. Open) – the first Slovenian podcast dedicated to architecture, space and design. In addition, it develops a wide range of programmes, including curated exhibitions, thematic architectural tours and international collaborations.
