AFRONT Institute is an independent Slovenian organisation dedicated to promoting architecture, spatial culture, and design through public programmes, research, and cultural-educational projects. It serves as a key platform connecting architectural practice, critical discourse, research, and innovation with wider audiences. Its mission is to enhance understanding of high-quality built environments, encourage public engagement, and create an open, critical, and accessible space for discourse on architecture and society.

Projects

AFRONT produces Open House Slovenia (OHS), the largest architectural festival in the country. Each year, OHS showcases more than one hundred exemplary buildings and urban projects across Slovenia, attracting thousands of visitors and fostering dialogue between architects, clients, and the public. The festival has become a central reference point for architectural culture in the region.

Beyond the festival, AFRONT runs Invisible Houses, an online platform presenting significant Slovenian architectural achievements that have been demolished, never built, are not accessible to the public, or are not sufficiently known or understood.

AFRONT also produces Odprto (Eng. Open), the first Slovenian podcast dedicated to architecture, space, and design. In addition, it develops a wide range of programmes, including curated exhibitions, thematic architectural tours, and international collaborations.
