Since 1996 the Cankarjada Festival has been taking place in Vrhnika every September. The festival presents a varied programme of improvisation theatre, street theatre and stand-up comedy by local theatre groups as well as music concerts.

Some of the best representatives of the mentioned performing arts genres in Slovenia have appeared so far at the festivals: Ana Monró Theatre, Priden Možic Cultural Association, Narobov, Unikat Theatre, Dejmo Stisnt Theatre as well as Glej Theatre.
