Agency for Communication Networks and Services of the Republic of Slovenia
Mission and objectives
The agency regulates electronic communications and the postal market so as to ensure fair and legal competition and thus provide access to high-quality, modern, and affordable services and a variety of radio and television programmes in Slovenia. It aims to ensure equality for operators of communication networks, service providers, and providers of postal services, to manage the radio frequency spectrum and number range, to monitor the content of radio and television programmes, and to protect the rights of users in both Slovenia and the European Union.
It promotes user-oriented services, a regulated and standardised European market, equal rights for all EU citizens, and variety of radio and television broadcasts.
International cooperation
The agency regularly participates in regional and international events concerning the digital switchover, such as the 2009 Conference on the Digital Switchover in London and a similar regional conference held in Priština (Kosovo). That same year representatives of the agency took part in a conference titled Protection of Children from Inappropriate Television Content in Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina). In 2010 agency representatives attended a conference on media literacy that was held in London.
