The agency's activities include:
- providing funding for projects in the field of literature,
- promoting Slovene literature and authors,
- encouraging publication of quality literary and scientific works,
- providing stipends and other means of support for authors,
- promoting international cooperation in the field of literature (especially translations of Slovene books and international promotion thereof),
- ensuring that authors get compensation for library loans of their books,
- supporting a development of a bookshop network and increasing the availability of books,
