Awarded by the Central European Initiative (CEI), a platform for regional cooperation, and the Slovene Writers’ Association, the CEI Award for Young Writers is aimed at fostering international cooperation and stimulating young authors from the 17 CEI member states. The Award aims at promoting the young generation of writers and supporting the circulation of their literary works through the translation in the languages of the CEI countries. The Award envisages the translation into Slovene and the translation into another CEI language of the candidate’s choice.

The call

The fellowship is awarded at the opening ceremony of the festival.

Applicants should be young authors up to 40 years of age from non-EU CEI countries (Albania, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia, and Ukraine).

Background

First the Award enabled the recipients to partake in a three-month residence in any CEI member state of the candidate's choice.
