The ID20 Institute is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation founded in 2012 in Idrija, where the world’s second largest mercury mine once operated. Today, the town, with its rich mining heritage, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. ID20’s mission is to preserve and develop cultural heritage, particularly in peripheral and rural areas. Through innovative, award-winning approaches, ID20 integrates social entrepreneurship, youth work, marketing, architecture, and community building into the heritage sector. ID20 works closely with initiatives promoting Idrija miners houses, Idrija žlikrofi, and industrial culture.
