Italian Community Giuseppe Tartini, Piran was founded in 1946 shortly after the Second World War, under the name Circolo Italiano di Cultura (Italian Cultural Society). Its mission has remained unchanged: to preserve the Italian language and culture and to serve the needs of the Italian community in the eastern Adriatic region.
Although theatre was originally its main activity, the community now organises a wide range of events, including concerts, storytelling sessions for children, workshops, and a carnival celebration during the Slovenian Mardi Gras (Pust) season. It also runs an Italian-language library. The community is based in the birthplace of the renowned Italian violinist Giuseppe Tartini, after whom it is named.
