The Public Institute for the Development of Contemporary Dance Art was established in 2026 by The Culture Ministry and the cities of Celje and Nova Gorica. Its mission is to provide suitable workspace and working conditions for contemporary dance artists and sufficient institutional support for the development of this specific art field. The seat of the Institute will be in eastern Slovenian city of Celje which is already known for its vibrant dance scene while the city of Nova Gorica will provide a rehearsal venue in the EPIC Centre which opened when Nova Gorica was the European Capital of Culture (together with the Italian city Gorizia) in 2025. One of the future goals of the institute is to establish rehearsal places in other Slovenian municipalities as well.
