The Public Institute for the Development of Contemporary Dance Art was established in 2026 by the Ministry of Culture and the Municipalities of Celje and Nova Gorica. Its mission is to provide contemporary dance artists with suitable workspace and working conditions, and to offer the institutional support needed for the development of this art form.

Locations

The Institute is headquartered in Celje, a city in eastern Slovenia already known for its vibrant dance scene, while Nova Gorica provides a rehearsal venue at the EPIC Centre – opened when Nova Gorica was the European Capital of Culture in 2025, jointly held with the Italian city of Gorizia. One of the Institute's goals is to establish rehearsal spaces in other Slovenian municipalities as well.
