Founded byArchitects' Society of Ljubljana (DAL)

The Plečnik Fund, named after Slovenia's foremost architect Jože Plečnik (1872–1957) was founded in 1973. The fund is administered by the Architects' Society of Ljubljana (DAL), and grants annual awards and accolades to outstanding achievements in Slovene architecture. Its most important award is the Plečnik Award.

The fund is led by a General Shareholders Assembly made up of representatives of various professional institutions and cultural associations (Urban Planning Institute, DESSA Architecture Centre, Chamber of Architecture and Spatial Planning of Slovenia, and others), faculties (Faculty of Architecture, Department of Landscape Architecture), municipalities, and sponsors. The sitting mayor of Ljubljana serves as its chairman. Each year, the assembly appoints an expert jury of persons from different backgrounds and generations to ensure the selection process for the Plečnik Award is impartial and awards the best project.

Alongside its general responsibilities, the Board of Directors of the Plečnik Fund and its president also oversee the preservation of Plečnik's cultural heritage.
