The agency (in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Education and Sport and the Union of Slovene Public Libraries) are also involved in the project Rastem s knjigo ("Growing with a book"), which promotes reading among children and provides a free book for every 7th grade pupil.
Activities
The agency provides funds for projects in the field of literature; promotes Slovene literature and authors; encourages publication of quality literary and scientific works; provides stipends and other means of support for authors; promotes international cooperation in the field of literature (especially translations of Slovene books and international promotion thereof); ensures that authors get compensation for library loans of their books; supports a development of a bookshop network and increasing the availability of books; provides conditions for a development of reading culture.
Since 2009 Slovenian Book Agency has been involved in the regional network Traduki, encouraging translations "from, to and within Southeast Europe".
