Web Museum

From Culture.si

The Web Museum is designed as a repository for digital audiovisual contemporary art and time-based art, which also provides online access to AV materials. It comprises material recorded on video carriers (performances, dance, multimedia works) and documents from exhibitions, lectures, seminars, festivals and conferences. It was established in 2014 in the Museum of Modern Art) as an intersection of digitised AV documents of contemporary art practices and discursive programmes.

Collaboration with independent producers

Since the project’s beginnings, it has included repository services for important independent contemporary art producers and publishers. Among participating organisations are the City of Women Association for Promotion of Women in Culture, KUD Mreža Arts and Culture Association, Maska Institute and Kapelica Gallery, ones that have shaped the Slovenian contemporary art field for over three decades. The museum’s testing phase also included the archive of choreographer and contemporary dance activist Ksenija Hribar (1938–1999) from Rok Vevar’s private Temporary Slovene Dance Archive, now housed within the Web Museum.
