Launched in 2000, the Festival of Monodrama - Monodrama Ptuj - is dedicated to the art of the one-man show, seeking to bring audiences a selection of the best Slovene one-man drama performances and stimulate the development of this form of drama text and performance, which is usually also written by the actors involved. As a traditional festival, Monodrama Ptuj is gaining major importance for actors working on such projects, as this is one of the rare European festivals dedicated solely to the actor. The competitive part of the festival is reserved for Slovene actors, as there is no way to detach the importance of the language and the narrative from a monologue.
