Launched in 2000, the Festival of Monodrama - Monodrama Ptuj - is dedicated to the art of the one-man show, seeking to bring audiences a selection of the best Slovene one-man drama performances and stimulate the development of this form of drama text and performance, which is usually also written by the actors involved. It is a competitive festival; an elected selector carefully observes the production of monologues over the span of two seasons, choosing only the best four to six pieces. The festival confers the Monodrama Ptuj Badge and a substantial financial prize on the winner. As a traditional festival, Monodrama Ptuj is gaining major importance for actors working on such projects, as this is one of the rare European festivals dedicated solely to the actor. The competitive part of the festival is reserved for Slovene actors, as there is no way to detach the importance of the language and the narrative from a monologue.
Culture.si offers information on Slovene cultural producers, venues, festivals and support services, all in one place. It encourages international cultural exchange in the fields of arts, culture and heritage. The portal and its content is owned and funded by the Ministry of Culture, funded by the European Union Recovery and Resilience Plan and developed by Ljudmila Art and Science Laboratory.
