First presented in 2007, the Pia and Pino Mlakar Award is conferred by the expert committee of the Association of Ballet Artists of Slovenia for outstanding and original life time contribution to the art of ballet and choreography. The award is named after the late Slovene ballet dancers and choreographers Pia and Pino Mlakar, the founders of professional ballet education in Slovenia.


The 2010 Pia and Pino Mlakar Award was awarded to one of the most visible Slovene ballet choreographers Vlasto Dedovič.
