Mission and objectives
The Slovenian Culture and Information Centre in Vienna was established by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Culture: the purpose of the joint venture is to create a synergy among the Slovene institutions and organisations in Vienna in order to become a central forum and a representative of Slovene cultural, education, and science activities in Austria. Specifically, the project endeavours to promote a culture and art programme as well as create a cultural education programme for children and youth; establish a library and a reading room; all while focusing on building a multidisciplinary approach from all study fields and art disciplines.
One of the central objectives of the centre is the establishment of a residence for artists, guests and scientists, similar to the existing artist-in-residence programme conducted in Berlin, New York and London by the Slovene Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport.
