The first award was bestowed to Nace Šumi, a representative of the second generation of Slovene art historians.
Since 2000 the awards have been given to Milan Sagadin (2017), Stane Bernik (2016), Jovo Grobovšek (2015), Stanko Gojkovič (2014), Alenka Železnik (2013), Nataša Štupar Šumi (2012), Mira Strmčnik Gulič (2011) Janez Mikuž (2010), Ana Sonja Hoyer (2009), Peter Fister (2008), Viktor Gojkovič (2007) and Anka Aškerc (2006), Ivan Bogovčič (2005), Tone Mikeln (2004), Marijan Zadnikar (2003), Stojan Ribnikar (2002) and Sergej Vrišer (2001).
