The traditional annual meeting of Slovene choirs from Slovenia and neighbouring countries - also known as Šentviški pevski tabor - is one of the largest singing events in Europe, involving the participation of up to 250 choirs and around 5,000 vocalists. Choir meetings are organised by local organisations in collaboration with the local branch of the Public Fund for Cultural Activities of the Republic of Slovenia (JSKD). The 37th Meeting of 2007 presented 140 choirs led by well-known conductor Igor Švara. The eight Slovene choirs came from Croatia, Austria, Hungary, Italy and Bosnia-Herzegovina (Banja Luka). On 22 June 2008 choirs from all the EU countries which have collaborated with Slovene choirs were invited to the 39th Meeting as a part of Slovene Presidency of the European Union cultural programme.
