The Institute's research activities deal with the broad areas of civilisation and culture as well as delving in the social, civil, urban and cultural aspects of human existence (historical demographics; social stratification; migrations/transitional demographics; cultural policy, national-supernational, language issues, national education and science policies and their roles as constituting parts of the world development, social impact of new technologies and information society as such).
Its departments are: Department for the Study of Media and Publics, Department of Identity and Culture, Department of Safety and Freedom and the Economic Department, while its units are: Slavica - Network of Slavic Countries, Institute for New Economy, Democratic office and ICK films.
Culture.si offers information on Slovene cultural producers, venues, festivals and support services, all in one place. It encourages international cultural exchange in the fields of arts, culture and heritage. The portal and its content is owned and funded by the Ministry of Culture, funded by the European Union Recovery and Resilience Plan and developed by Ljudmila Art and Science Laboratory.
