Scientific & Research Institute at the Faculty of Arts at University of Ljubljana was established 1979 in order to co-ordinate the scientific and research projects at the Faculty. Currently, the Institute has around 500 registered and 280 active researchers, which makes it the largest scientific institution in the country in the field of arts and humanities.


Background

The Institute's starting programme focused on the research of cultural activitiy in Slovenia, combining elementary research projects with a wide range of disciplines: philosophy, history, archaeology, anthropology, ethnology, comparative literature, art history, geography, and also social sciences.

Since its inception, the Institute is an umbrella institution for researchers at the Faculty of Arts, also for the ones involved in the Young Research programme, run by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology and Slovene Research Agency (ARRS).
