Awarded annually by Ljubljana Urban Municipality since [[established::1966]], the [[Župančič Award of the City of Ljubljana|Župančič Award]] is named after Slovene writer [[Oton Župančič]] (1878-1949). Following the public announcement candidates are selected from among all the authors proposed; selection is carried out by a committee elected by the Mayor of the City who is also its president.
