Founded [[Established::]] by architect [[Jurij Kobe]], [[ATELIERarhitekti]] is an open group of architects sharing the same vision and comprehension of a space. Their work ranges from domestic to public buildings, cultural projects and open public spaces, and covers also scenography as well as exhibition set design.

Recent projects include the extension to the [[Slovene National Theatre Opera and Ballet Ljubljana]], the new Butcher's Bridge in Ljubljana, the awarded [[Maribor Puppet Theatre]], its adjacent [[Minorite Church, Maribor]] and Ljubljanica riverbanks projects.

== Awards == 

The European Prize for Urban Public Space, a biennial competition organised by seven European institutions, was awarderd to ATELIERarhitekti in 2012 for the Renovation of the Banks of the River Ljubljanica, a joint project that also includes the works of [[Boris Podrecca]], [[BB arhitekti]], [[atelje Vozlič]], [[DANS Arhitekti]], [[Trije arhitekti]], [[Medprostor arhitekti]], and [[Urbi]].

In 2012 [[Jurij Kobe]] and [[Rok Žnidaršič]] received the [[Plečnik Award]] for the reconstructed former Minorite convent, now home to the [[Maribor Puppet Theatre]]. 

== Background == 

Among running the ATELIERarhitekti studio, [[Jurij Kobe]] is also a professor at the [[Faculty of Architecture, University of Ljubljana]]. His early works include several renovations, among them also the [[Cekin Mansion]] where the [[National Museum of Contemporary History]] is located, and many schools. The Secondary School of Nursing in Ljubljana was also a finalist for the Mies van der Rohe Prize (1998) for best European architecture.

The merger of ATELIERarhitekti was initiated by a long collaboration with [[Rok Žnidaršič]] and [[Jerneja Fischer Knap]]. Later on the two of them established the studio [[Medprostor arhitekti]], while ATELIERarhitekti transformed to an open collective of architects, who are simultaneously working on the same project.
