Let's start!

Overall editorial directives

  • Highlight current activities
  • International successes
  • Latest hottest news
  • Curated program – conceptual
  • Mission / Artistic policy / Concept
  • What is special about it
  • Types of Activities

Think about what makes this organisation an attractive / relevant partner for international cooperation. What does the organisation offer? What is their track record known for? What are some of the most talked about aspects of the organisation? What are the first words that come to mind when you think about the organisation?

Remember to write foremost for

  • foreign artists
  • producers, cultural managers
  • cultural / international affairs officials & agents
  • journalists
  • scholars who will be searching the site to learn about the types of cultural products in Slovenia, the genres presented as well as to confirm references about a particular organisation, for example, are they a potential partner or not?

Inverted pyramid

Use the inverted pyramid format: the most important and most pertinent facts at the top, then explanatory contents, expansion and in-depth information follows below. ATTENTION! Each fact should be mentioned only ONCE. The key is to find the optimal place to mention it. Our writing needs to be juicy enough to keep potential partner organisations interested to read further.

Descriptive and definitive opening sentence

First sentence = Description and Definition. Yes, in one sentence (!), define the organisation and describe it succinctly in a relatively-short, direct sentence. Please find a way to include information about when the organisation was founded or established, and be sure to mark the year of founding in your code as [[Established::1980]].

Teaser

First paragraph = Teaser. While our editors first thought of this paragraph as an abstract about the organisation, I like to think of it as a (meaningful) introduction, or perhaps a teaser. Think of how you would introduce someone to your friend at a dinner party, you'd want to mention a few highlights about that person, the things that you think your friend would find interesting, things that would intrigue your friend enough to continue a conversation. Same thing here.

That said, here's what to include:

  • Current news or latest achievements, current interests or projects
    • Example: Bugbrain Studio

Body

  • Next follows the body of the article: a detailed presentation focused on international cooperation and including updated information for the period 2007-2009. If the article is extensive, divide it into the section headings appropriate for your field. The section headings that you use will also depend upon how much you have to say about the organisation.

If you do not use section headings, organise the information in one or two paragraphs in the same order as the section headings.

Section headings according to field

Mandatory headings

See also

  • List related links inside Culture.si
  • Depending upon the activities of the organisation and/or the diversity of categories, it is advisable to make subheadings for the links. For example:
    • Festivals organised by organisation
    • Awards organised by organisation
    • Networks in which the organisation actively participates

External links

  • Official URL of the organisation (in addition to INFOBOX). Here, however, it should be written as »Organisation's website«
  • Relevant articles or reviews about the organisation
    • Links to reviews should firstly include foreign press then Slovenian press
    • When linking to Slovenian press, limit to the most relevant reviews, not mere listings in the newspaper. Give priority to links that are free (for example, Delo archives are only available for pay.)
    • Related channels/profiles on youtube, vimeo, myspace, flicker, imdb, facebook, twitter

Infobox

Check and correct all contact information for the organisation.

Footnotes

Use the footnote template to enter the relevant data about your reference source.

Headings and their contents

What follows is a brief discussion about the types of information to include under each heading.

History

  • Provide a brief overview of the most important events in the history of the organisation, including names of directors and dates, important expansions, changes in direction, etc.

Programme / Mission

  • A synopsis of the organisation's activities which provides insight into the flavour, style, context of their work in Slovenia and internationally.

Performances

  • Here we are interested in the most important or relevant performances of the organisation, especially ones that have led to recognition, created a stir because of their uniqueness or whatever reason might seem attractive. List performances as Name of Performance in English Language [Translation in Slovenian language] (Year). For each performance provide at least one sentence about it.

Exhibitions

  • Here we are interested in the most important or relevant performances of the organisation, especially ones that have led to recognition, created a stir because of their uniqueness or whatever reason might seem attractive.

Publishing / Publications

  • What types of publications, frequency, editorial structure, etc. Are the publications translations or are they texts published in original Slovenian language? Are publications in any other language besides Slovenian? Dual language or separate?

International Cooperation

  • In this section discuss whatever of the three following aspects of international cooperation relate to the organisation:
    • European projects – that is, especially those projects that have received funding from European Commission funding bodies (EACEA (Culture 2000, Culture 2007-2013, etc.), European Parliament, Erasmus, etc.)
    • Tours abroad / Guest appearances on festivals
    • Projects made in Slovenia with foreign artists or in co-production with foreign organisations.
    • Membership in international networks - emphasise proactive involvement!

Education

  • Here we are interested in the educational activities offered for adults, especially education in the form of professional training, workshops, stages, workstudy, etc. Education programmes for children are not part of culture.si. Emphasise international teachers / guest lecturers & target groups (Who is it for?).

Awards and achievements

  • List most important awards received by the organisation and, where relevant, for what work it was received. Do not duplicate information that may be listed in another section. Give priority to the most prestigious Slovenian awards, then to Foreign awards, then to smaller Slovenian awards.
  • List achievements that the organisation has reached. For example, the only, the first, the biggest, the most-widely attended. If possible, you can interweave these facts into the body of the text.
