The Art Center, Institute of Youth Culture, was established in 2003 for the purpose of organising and promoting cultural activities in Kranj. This very active NGO in the field of culture with solid support in the Gorenjska region organises various concerts, theatre and dance shows, exhibitions, lectures, workshops, round tables and other events throughout the year. Its main projects include the Carniola Festival, Summer in Kranj, the Classical Cycle programme, the Festival of Creative Guitar Players, and the Youth Week, all of them aimed at broader audiences.
International cooperation
In 2007 the Art Center participated in the international project Tradicija na mejah Evrope [Traditions on the Borders of Europe] with partners from Gdansk, Poland and the Rio de Mouro parish in Sintra, Portugal near Lisbon. The project focused on the value of cultural diversity through the exchange of youth groups participating in folkloric cultural practices and was funded by the Youth in Action programme of the European Commission.
