Modrijan Publishing House was founded in 1996 by Branimir Nešović, a historian who had worked as a history textbooks editor as well as a journalist. First Modrijan published primarily textbooks for elementary and secondary education, including lexicons and dictionaries. Later the programme was enriched: starting with some works from classical antiquity, a programme of history books up to now includes several books on Slovene history. Since 2004 the Modrijan Publishing House has issued a line of literary and theoretical texts by contemporary authors as well, especially contemporary prose in translation.
