Originally launched in 1951 under the name Ljubljanski [[Dnevnik]] ('Ljubljana Daily'), this newspaper was renamed Dnevnik in 1968 and Dnevnik: neodvisni časopis ('Dnevnik: Independent Newspaper') in 1991. Its average daily print run is around 62,000 issues. According to the National Research on Readership ([http://www.nrb.info http://www.nrb.info]), in 2006 Dnevnik was read daily by 162,000 people, giving it a 9.5 per cent daily reach. The newspaper has correspondent offices in Celje, Kamnik, Koper, Kranj, Trbovlje, Novo Mesto and Jesenice. Dnevnik issues several supplementary editions - since 1962 Nedeljski dnevnik ('Sunday Dnevnik'), since 1994 Moj dom ('My Home') and Tolar na tolar ('Financial Supplement'), since 1996 Odmevnik ('Echo Paper' on hot issues), since 1999 Dnevnik & Svet Nepremičnin ('Dnevnik and Real Estate'), since 2000 Orbita, and since 2002 Cona ('Zone', a Supplement for Young People) and Križišče (a weekend supplement).
