The Faculty of Humanistic Studies, Koper-Capodistria was established as a free-standing high school institution in July 2000. The Council for High Education of the Republic of Slovenia agreed that in the school year 2001-2002 two new undergraduate studies programmes, Geography of Contact Spaces and Cultural Studies and Anthropology, should be launched. A postgraduate programme in Karstology started in the same year, while a further two postgraduate programmes - the History of Europe and the Mediterranean and Philosophy and Theory of Visual Culture - are now in the process of validation. The Faculty is involved in several international co-operation programmes: the DA VINCI Mobility programme scheme offers the possibility of internships in the EU states, while the SOCRATES/ERASMUS programme enables students to combine their studies with courses at other European universities.
