Since 2003 the programme of the Ex-tempore Piran - International Painting and Ceramics festival has been enriched by the Genius Loci Lera Workshop, which is organised annually at Sečovlje Salt Pans (see Museum of Salt Making, Sečovlje) by Obalne galerije - Coastal Galleries and Soline Pridelava soli Ltd. In recent years prominent guests have come from Slovenia (Emerik Bernard, and Milena Usenik), France (Petar Omčikus and Kosa Bokšan), Mexico, Germany, and Spain. In 2004 Slovene artists Jakov Brdar, Mirsad Begić and Tone Lapajne, who worked with saltflat mud and salt, were documented by photographer Boris Gaberščik and documentary film maker Matjaž Žbontar. Each year the workshop is followed by an exhibition accompanied by a trilingual catalogue.
