Panika Records has had its first release in 1988. It was a record by Romana Kranjčan, a still active singer and writer of (mostly) children songs, a music genre in which the label has now been specialised for about a quarter of a century. Among many, the writer, poet and singer Svetlana Makarovič recorded and released her stories for the label.

Besides publishing music, recorded stories or texts for children, the label has until 2000 been releasing some other, pop and rock oriented musicians like Ritem Planet, Cedevita, Vili Resnik and Niowt. They also acted as a distributor for some Slovene bands like TerraFolk and for a number of foreign (mainly metal) bands, whose albums they distributed in Slovenia.
