The group is currently led by master clarinettist Jože Kotar and comprises Slovenia’s third generation of musicians, who play a wide range of instruments including the standard orchestral B flat and A clarinets, alto clarinet, basset horn, the smaller E flat clarinet and the largest bass and contrabass clarinets. All of the artists combine performing and teaching careers, being members of professional orchestras and professors at the Academy of Music or teachers at secondary and primary music schools.
The Slovene Clarinet Sextet mostly presents a contemporary music repertoire though it also plays arrangements of classical music pieces. It has performed and recorded in Slovenia, Italy, Serbia and Montenegro.
The Discography Unit, RTV Slovenia released a CD containing performances of the sextet.
