Produced by [[P.A.R.A.S.I.T.E. Institute]], the [[Sound Explicit Festival]] is an annually held series of performances that, in one way or another, challenge the conventional treatment of sound as music and art. First held in [[established::2003]], since then the festival has presented a diverse set of artistic expressions, from acoustic improvisation to experimental sound processing and multi-modal composition. The latter incorporated moving pictures, radio signals, painting, and even the human body itself.

== Venues ==

Between 2003 and 2009, the festival was held in the [[P74 Centre and Gallery]], with only a small part of the programme also presented in the [[Kapsula Gallery]]. After a one year hiatus, the festival continued its course in 2011 on a changed location, moving to the [[Jakopič Gallery]]. 


== Programme ==

Some of the featured artists in the course of the first decade have included: [[Son:DA]], [[Cona Institute|Brane Zorman]], [[Lolita]], [[Luka Prinčič]], [[TILT]], [[Institute for Sonic Arts Research|Miha Ciglar]], [[Alzheimer Trio]], [[Zlatko Kaučič Kombo|Zlatko Kaučič]], [[Bratko Bibič & The Madleys|Bratko Bibič]], [[Cirkulacija 2|Boštjan Leskovšek]], [[Cirkulacija 2|Borut Savski]], [[Cameron Borbro]] and [[Sploh Institute|Tomaž Grom]]. Even though the festival focuses on Slovene artists, there have also been some foreign guests hosted, among them, the artists Bernfard Mikuskovics, Stefan Doepner, Jörg Piringer, and Nikolaus Gansterer.
