Originally launched in 1900 as a 12-piece orchestra by a Czech newspaper proprietor named Malahovski, Vevče Paperworks Brass Orchestra developed continuously throughout the first half of the 20th century. In the 1950s it began to play compositions by modern Slovene composers (for example Blaž Arnič and Emil Adamič) as well as showcasing international works. Acquiring its current name in 1963, the Orchestra also began co-operating closely with the Music School in Moste in order to access young musicians.

Orchestra’s most important achievements and prizes were accomplished in the 80’s and the 90’s. Their biggest achievement was 2nd prize on the world championship of amateur brass bands in Netherlands in 1989 and 1993, and also 1st prize in marching in 1993. Today the Orchestra performs regularly at the Cankarjev dom Culture and Congress Centre, where it gives a traditional Christmas concert, as well as touring overseas. In 2005 the Orchestra received 3rd Prize at the international competition in Riva del Garda.

Quite a few chamber groups had developed from the orchestra. The most popular one, RitemDaBit, established in 2007 is led by Josip Mihelčič. The group is primary focused on choreographies for individual parade appearances and on cooperation with the original orchestra.
