Followed by the opening concert, each year around 20 choirs compete for gold, silver and bronze plaque and diplomas at four competition concerts, which are usually followed by the final concert by the best choirs. After each concert, so called CEZURA! Time for choral talk is organized. It is usually led by recognized conductors and the conversation usually goes about choral trends, preparations for the competition, international competitions, concert programs, and so on. There are five members of jury each year, three of them are Slovene.
The obligatory programme for participants mustn’t be longer than 16 minutes and has to include two original Slovene choral compositions, a motet and a piece of choice. One of the pieces can be performed with instrumental accompaniment, solos are allowed in reasonable lengths.
Since 2004 the competition has been followed by a programme entitled 'A Totally Different Song', which features innovative approaches to singing.
