Collections
Since 2004 the museum has been managing various heritage collections from the region, some are located in Jesenice and some are dislocated. In Jesenice one can visit the Iron-making, Mining and Palaeontologic Collection in Bucellini-Ruard Mansion (here the museum's offices are located), the Ethnological Collection in Kasarna and the Kos Manor House. The Kajžnik Manor Houseis located in Rateče and the Liznjek House in Kranjska Gora. The warehouse for charcoal in the ironworks complex of Stara Sava in Kolpern was renovated in ; and the Slovenian Alpine Museum in Mojstrana.
Highlights of its collections are the art history collection of ecclesiastic and ironworks motives by Nicola Grassi, Janez Potočnik, Anton Karinger, Heinrich Wettach; the collection of the history of iron-making and of mountaineering; a geological and paleontological collection; and the archives of the Kranjska Industrial Society (KID).
In addition to its permanent exhibitions, the museum organises temporary exhibitions out of its collections and cooperates with institutions from Slovenia and abroad.

Museum library and publishing activities
