Established in 1999 by Gorazd Malačič, Miha Turšič, Miha Kirsch, and Marko Škerlavaj the creative consultancy Asobi best introduces itself with the statement "Change through design". Specialising in product design and brand management, Asobi offers services in industrial and furniture design, visual communications, overall design consulting, web development, and programming software for web development.

Projects and international presence

In 2005 Asobi introduced to the international market the iconic Isle Lounge sofa, developed in cooperation with the Slovene Space Agency in Constitution (an initiative of the Delak and Projekt Atol Institute) as part of the Products for Zero Gravity project. Isle Lounge has since been exhibited around the world at the most notable design events, to name only the London Design Festival, Il Salone Milan, IMM Cologne, and ICFF New York.

The work of Asobi has been published in various printed and interactive media – the UK Blueprint and Icon, the Italian Domus and INTERNI, the Dutch Frame magazine, and numerous others. In 2009 Asobi took part in the exhibition "Storie di Design" during the Palermo Design Week 09.

Work

About a hundred projects in the field of furniture manufacture, lighting, tableware, sport, sanitary technology and the medical industries have been made for great companies such as Elan, Tipro, Adria Mobil, Intra Lighting, and Kovinoplastika Lož, among others. For the project Slovenska Street in 2008 Asobi developed a 100 % recyclable outdoor urban seat called the Ljubljana chair. These modular chairs were placed along the main street in Ljubljana at locations and in arrangements proposed by the ProstoRož.

Awards

The lighting fixture Gwig, created by Asobi and produced by the Slovene company Intra Lighting received the prestigious international I.D. Design Award 2006, granted by an American magazine for industrial design, I.D.. The studio was furthermore nominated for the Designer of the Year in 2004 and the Success Story in 2007. Both awards are bestowed by Zavod Big at the Month of Design.
