Activities
ZAPS provides architects with useful information on legislation, hosts lectures and educational seminars, maintains a directory of its members, and assists private sector clients in organising and conducting tenders and competitions for building and landscape design projects.
The more visible side of the chamber's work involves the organisation of exhibitions and awards, in particular, the traditional annual exhibition of the work of its members. ZAPS administers the Golden Pencil Award for achievements by its members in the fields of architecture, landscape architecture, and planning. Since 2006, the exhibition and award ceremony have tied in with the Congress of Slovene Architects. ZAPS also issues a range of publications, including the annual Slovenska arhitektura in prostor series cataloguing prominent works by its members.
Since 2008, the House of Architecture has operated under the auspices of the Chamber of Architecture and Spatial Planning with a mission to promote architecture through exhibitions, lectures and related cultural and educational activities.
ZAPS takes an active role in addressing social issues in the fields of architecture, urban planning, and landscape architecture. In 2018, it rolled out the Women in Architecture project, with the aim of showcasing and promoting the work of women engineers and architects and drawing attention to problems women face in this field, and by doing so, underscoring the importance of architecture to society as a whole. The project linked up with the Women in Architecture working group at the Architects' Council of Europe and is a partner organisation in the Erasmus+ Yes We Plan! initiative.
