The study programme is designed as a multidisciplinary programme and is jointly offered by altogether seven universities: the University of Oldenburg from Germany, the University of Nova Gorica from Slovenia, the University of Stavanger from Norway, and the University of South Bohemia from Czech Republic. Partner academic institutions from Africa are: Ahfad University for Women from Omdurman in Sudan, Makerere University and Mbarara University of Science & Technology in Uganda.
The two-year study programme emphasizes different perspectives on migration and intercultural dialogue. The Master course first begins with studying at two host universities (University of Oldenburg, University of Stavanger), in the second year the programme offers a possibility of studying at any partner university.
Within the programme scheme there are four optional focuses for individual research: Gender, Development, Representation, and Education. The European and African context is to be considered with each topic.
University of Nova Gorica also co-founded the an International University Institute for European Studies (IUIES) in Gorizia.
