Siti hlapci

When the band Siti hlapci came to life in 1998, there was not much of a reggae scene in Slovenia. Even today, the band, whose name literally means Satiated slaves, is still one of the very few practitioners of the genre.

Till now, they have released two albums, with the first one coming out in 2003 and titled Tukaj in Zdaj (Here and Now). The second one, called Si ti Hlapec? (Are You a Slave?), followed in 2005. Both were mostly sung in Slovene and have received quite a lot of public and media attention. In 2012 they released the first single Plamen (Flame) from their upcoming third albim and the song. The song stayed for 3 weeks on MTV Adria balkan charts and has received a quite some radio airplay.

Line-up

The band was founded by Tadej Tratnik - Tadiman, who was at that time also hosting a reggae radio show and has also been leading a funk-punk band called Slowly getting. Today, he is also a member of an italian reggae band Makako jump, with whom he is regularly in both Italy and outside.

The other members include Matej Horvat on drums (besides Tadiman the only remaining member of the original line-up), Samo Pečar on bass, Beno Soršak on the guitar in Boštjan Jug on keyboards. All four of them can also be found in other musical set-ups like Electric Boogie or Ritem Sekta.

Gigs

The band has had more than 200 appearances on stages across Slovenia and have performed also in Italy, Austria, Hungary, Croatia and Czech Republic. Some fo the festivals that hosted them are Soča Sunsplash, Lent, Rototom Sunsplash and the Sziget festival.
