A.V.A. Institute, Academy of Visual Arts, officialy established in 2007 with the inauguration of the first lectures in the school year 2008/2009, offers the BA studies of classical and contemporary programmes of visual arts with the moto of encouraging its students to develope into confident creative artists. It offers three programme modules: Foundation Studies in Art and Design, Fine Arts and Conceptualisation of Space. As the only school in Slowenia using British model of higher education, so having international accreditation, the institute AVA is in the process of gaining institutional and programme approval in Slovenia.


Tutors are acknowledged artists who work on the basis of individual approach. The school provides students with their own personal work space/ studio from the beginning of the specialised (BA hons) programme (year 2) which is open for applicants with clear vision of specialisation and strong portfolio. Theoretical and practical part of the study are strongly intertwined.

  • Foundation Studies in Art and Design

The foundation studies should help students reveal their creative potential and achieve clear vision of their specialisation.

  • Fine Arts
  • Conceptualisation of Space

(painting, modelling, photography-photomedia, 3D design, digital imaging, animation-animatronics, film, video, performance arts, costume design, film design, theatre design and TV set design, puppet design and puppet fabrication).
