The [[Blue Bird Award]], has been bestowed biennially by [[Mladinska knjiga Publishing House|Mladinska knjiga Group]] since [[established::2012]] for the best unpublished literary work. Every second year, a competition for Slovenian writers focuses on a specific literary genre, such as novels for adults or young adults, respectively. Blue Bird brings not only a certain publishing of the awarded work but also the highest financial reward, as far as Slovenian awards for one literary work are concerned, since the laureate receives 12,000 EUR. 

Early Blue Bird recipients include: [[Stanka Hrastelj]] (2012); [[Vinko Möderndorfer]] (2013) for ''Kot v filmu'' (Like in a Movie), a novel for young adult readers; [[Roman Rozina]] (2014); and [[Miha Mazzini]] (2016) for ''Zvezde vabijo'' (The Stars are Waiting), a novel also for young adult readers.
