Since [[established::1996]] the [[Cankarjada Theatre Festival]] has been taking place in Vrhnika every September. The festival presents a varied programme of improvisation theatre, street theatre and stand-up comedy by local theatre groups.

Some of the best representatives of the mentioned genres in Slovenia have appeared so far at the festivals: [[Ana Monró Theatre]], [[Priden Možic Cultural Association]], [[Narobov]], Unikat Theatre, [[Dejmo Stisnt Theatre]] as well as [[Glej Theatre]].
