Each year Cankarjevo dom buys the theatrical rights for several art films that are premiered at the Ljubljana International Film Festival (LIFFe) and later screened in its own halls or in other independent art cinemas around Slovenia. It is also a member of the Art Cinema Network that it helped to found.
Cankarjev dom has also its film education programme. Each year it offers a selection of art films that are presented to the young audience through a lecture held by film scholars or professionals. Cankarjev dom has been a member of the International Federation of Film Producers' Associations (Fédération internationale des associations de producteurs de films, FIAPF) since 1992 and of the Co-ordination Européen des festivals de cinema (CEFC) since 1998.
