Research areas include textile and fashion design, industrial textile and clothing production and marketing, technical textiles and clothing, art textiles, interior textiles, national textile heritage, textile technology, graphic technology, costume design. sociology and philosophy. Other activities of this Department include publishing, textile archival work, expert opinions, advisory work, exhibitions and fashion shows, expert conferences, professional continuing education, open university and business services, students' and professors' exchange and collaborations. The Department collaborates on various projects with the Academy of Fine Arts and Design and the Faculty of Architecture, University of Ljubljana as well as with other faculties.
The Department of Textiles is a member of CUMULUS - International Association of Universities and Colleges of Art, Design and Media. In November 2007 the Adriatic Print and Photo Forum took place at the Department.
Culture.si offers information on Slovene cultural producers, venues, festivals and support services, all in one place. It encourages international cultural exchange in the fields of arts, culture and heritage. The portal and its content is owned and funded by the Ministry of Culture, funded by the European Union Recovery and Resilience Plan and developed by Ljudmila Art and Science Laboratory.
