Festival Carniola is an international summer festival of music, theatre and dance. It presents top Slovene and international performers of world music, jazz, classical music, opera, street theatre, classical theatre, contemporary dance, and folk dance. Past performances include [[Laibach]] (Slovenia), [[Terrafolk]] (Slovenia), The Platters (USA), Gwen Hughes (USA), Huerque Mapu (Argentina), Afrikali (Tanzania), Mariachi & Ballet Folclorico Policromia Mexicana (Mexico), Josipa Lisac (Croatia), Conjunto Artistico Maraguan (Cuba), Vermicelli Orchestra (Russia), Rimpparemmi (Finland) and Picikato Brass Band (Macedonia). Many events are performed in the open air or, in cases of rain, in the [[Prešeren Theatre Kranj]] or at [[Khislstein Castle]].
