The Slovenian Scientific Institute Vienna was established in the year 2000 in order to promote bilateral scientific co-operation between institutions and individuals Slovenia and Austria. The Institute offers support, grants and organisational help to researchers, institutions and also cares about the promotion of Slovene heritage in Vienna.


Historical background

The Institute is housed in the Knafelj House in Vienna, which is known for being the residence of students from Slovenia and Carniola since 1676. Luka Knafelj as supporter of funding of the future Slovene intelligentsia enabled many students to study at the University of Vienna. Among others France Prešeren and [[Oton Župančič Memorial Collection Oton Zupančič]] received Knafelj grants in the past.

Activities
