The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Slovenia was opened in 2010 in a residential neighborhood of Bežigrad in Ljubljana. The Embassy provides limited consular services and advises on investment opportunities. It also supports promotion of Iranian culture in Slovenia. Agreement between Republic of Slovenia and Islamic Republic of Iran in the fields of Education, Culture and Science was signed in 2001.

Cultural cooperation

Film

The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Slovenia collaborated and supported the film retrospective of Iran's most renowned film writer and director Reza Mirkarimi at the Slovenian Cinematheque in February 2012. The author himself, a special guest of the retrospective, was among others awarded in Cannes for his long-feature film ('Under the Moonlight', 2000). His five long-feature films were presented at the projections in Ljubljana, which were also screened in Maribor's Kino Udarnik.

Puppet theater and music

In February 2013 the Embassy supported 'The Cultural Week of the Islamic Republic of Iran', held at the Ljubljana Puppet Theatre. Under the title "Islamic Iran in the Mirror of Culture and Civilizations" the literature and paintings were presented, together with a puppet performance by Mehdi Habibi ('ChelCheloon') and a concert of traditional Persian music by Mezrab.
